MISSISSIPPI – MarketMaker
In 2006, the Mississippi MarketMaker web site was established through the leadership of Dr. Kenneth Hood, Extension Professor at Mississippi State University. The Mississippi site became the sixth state MarketMaker site, which has since grown to 20 affiliated web sites across the United States, making Mississippi one of the original state partners and a permanent board member on the national MarketMaker Board. read more...
MISSISSIPPI – Bricks to Clicks
Five local businesses in Woodville, MS were chosen to participate in the Bricks to Clicks program developed by Dr. James Barnes, Ph.D., an Extension Professor in the Agricultural Economics Department at Mississippi State University. Bricks to Clicks is an eight week social media adventure where each business owner is given the opportunity to have a specific social media marking plan developed, created, and put into action. MISSISSIPPI – Feeder Calf Board Sales
Every August beef cattle producers take their cattle to market. However not every cattle farmer is able to fill an entire truck as needed for the sale. This is where the Mississippi Homeplace Producer Sale and the Cattlemen's Exchange Sales with the help of the Farm Bureau and local extension agents can help. Extension agents help local farmers by matching the cattle of similar characteristics and raising practices together to complete each lot, allowing more farmers to take their cattle to auction. These auctions are managed as board sales by marketing cattle while they are not on site. read more...
