Apply background information to the artisan audience you are targeting in your organization: Are the participants likely to be: hobbyists or serious artists, skilled crafts people or someone with an idea but no artistic skills, young or mature individuals, business or non-business people, working employees or retirees, craft director or a craft organization member, or other combinations? List the advantages and disadvantages to your planned program with each type.

The most effective workshops include a mixture of lecture, demonstration, discussion and application. Adults respond well with application. Include experiential learning (Experiential Learning is the process of making meaning from direct experience) throughout the workshop, and include your own ideas along with those included in the curriculum.
