You’re probably wondering how the Internet can be an advantage for crafts businesses. Consider how current customers find crafts online. And then think about what draws customers to those retail locations. Does tourism to your community or where crafts are displayed draw enough consumers? Are artisan businesses strong; are they profitable and able to withstand slow sales periods?

Fast facts

  • Artisans contribute more than $13.8 billion to the annual economy.
  • 60 percent of gross sales are made in the artisan’s home state.
  • Most artisans make their profits through craft fairs and festivals.
