Keys to successful Web site development

  • Have a plan
  • List ideas
  • Select graphics/pictures
  • Be selective
  • Write simply
  • Communicate accurately
  • Get help if you are not skilled in Web design

Web page design is the process of organizing content and images on a Web page to sell your ideas and information to visitors to your Web site. Generally, the term applies to the graphic side of Web development.

Basic rule: Keep it simple. Simple design means quicker loading on a computer screen and easier access to viewing, whether the customer has high-speed or dial-up Internet access.

  • Basic rule: keep it simple.
  • Quick loading – 3 seconds
  • Accessible by impaired viewers
  • Ease of viewing in multiple browsers.

Now, let’s take a look at some more artisan Web sites. Again, noteswrite notes as these sites are viewed. Think about feedback on the verbiage used, how the photos of products look and what is the overall feel of the Web site. Does this Web site promote online buying?
