SRDC staff compiles Grant Connections primarily for the faculty of
colleges and universities in the South to provide funding information
in support of activities in agricultural economics, education, human
sciences, rural sociology, youth development, and other related disciplines.

An intensive three-day grant proposal workshop will be held March 18-20, 2008, at the McKimmon Educational Conference Center at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C. The main focus of the workshop will be how to effectively tell the story that leads to funding. | Overview |
The Southeast Center supports feasibility projects that focus on agricultural health and safety among human populations in the Southeastern United States. These funds are intended to support research projects that can lead to larger funded studies. Any research project within a broad definition of occupational health and injury topics in agriculture (i.e., farming, forestry, and fishing) is welcome. For example, projects may focus on exploring or developing new research methods, data linkages, evaluation methods, survey instruments and laboratory methods. The Southeast Center places special emphasis on transdisciplinary projects and the translation of research to practice.

Team Nutrition Training Program Grants

| Overview |
The purpose of this grant is to assist state agencies to expand and enhance training programs that incorporate and implement the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans in school meal programs and meals served under other child nutrition programs. States must apply Team Nutrition’s three behavior-focused strategies in their proposals:
- Provide training and technical assistance to child nutrition foodservice professionals to enable them to prepare and serve nutritious meals that appeal to students.
- Provide fun and interactive nutrition education for children, teachers, parents and others caregivers.
- Build school and community support for creating healthy school environments that are conducive to healthy eating and physical activity.
