This overview of the National Coalition for Rural Entrepreneurship describes the theoretical context, rationale, history and process by which the Coalition was established, and the role of USDA, the Regional Rural Development Centers, RUPRI and other funding. The Regional Rural Development Center directors will report on what we have learned from the 30-plus listening sessions held in communities and states across the regions. They will discuss the research and extension priorities and opportunities for rural entrepreneurship development systems, based on input from communities, and the interaction with tribal colleges and tribal listening sessions. They will also discuss specific state, regional, and national actions associated with public policies and funding.
