Governors look to the arts to fuel economic growth

The National Governors Association (NGA) has recently released New Engines of Growth: Five Roles for Arts, Culture and Design. This research monograph illustrates how the arts offer a competitive edge to communities seeking to cultivate high-growth industries, catalyze entrepreneurial activity, boost employment and revive distressed areas. Produced by the NGA in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies, the new report is a useful guide for elected officials, civic leaders and public agencies working to widen opportunities for rural communities. For more information about the report (including requests for hard copies), contact Sue Struve, communications manager at the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies.
