As individuals began efforts to work or learn from home, people that lack broadband access or skills struggle to keep up. What can Cooperative Extension do to help bolster resources to these communities? The National Digital Extension Education Team will share practical guidance into what has been successful in navigating these challenges. Join us for a one hour webinar to explore together.

2020 Census Update

The U.S. Census Bureau is adjusting 2020 Census operations due to COVID-19. Self-response deadlines have been extended to October 31st and field activities will resume after June 1st. The U.S. Census Bureau is also offering an online map tool that allows you to view self-response rates in communities across the country.

Distance Learning & Telemedicine Grants

Deadline to apply: July 13, 2020

The Distance Learning and Telemedicine program helps rural communities use the unique capabilities of telecommunications to connect to each other and to the world, overcoming the effects of remoteness and low population density. For example, this program can link teachers and medical service providers in one area to students and patients in another. The agency is providing this additional filing window for those that could not complete applications prior to the Window 1 deadline. This window also makes available up to $25 million received from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).

Sea Grant National Federal Partnership Liaisons Competition

Deadline to apply: November 3, 2020

In an effort to increase collaboration and effective use of federally-funded ocean, coastal and Great Lakes research, the NSGO is looking for proposals to develop National Federal Partnership Liaison positions in coordination with other federal agencies or programs whose project goals align with and support national Sea Grant focus area or vision plan goals. We expect to fund 2-3 liaisons at up to $100K of Sea Grant federal dollars annually for four years. State match of 50% of NSGO funds and ‘substantial’ federal partner funding required.

International Workshop on Agritourism: Burlington, VT

October 27-29, 2020

The 2020 International Workshop on Agritourism (IWA) will be held October 27-29 at the Hilton Burlington Hotel in downtown Burlington, Vermont, USA. The University of Vermont Extension local host committee is working on developing an exciting program for participants which will include educational sessions on pertinent industry topics, poster presentations, hands-on workshops and farm tours, networking events, and time with our exhibitors and sponsors.
