| Frontier Community College in Fairfield, IL, developed a partnership with 12 local high schools to establish multiple dual-credit opportunities for secondary students. The model has grown to the point that this fall (2002) the college will see a 25 percent increase in FTE (1200 head count). The college and high school superintendents have worked through a liaison to establish over 120 new classes, taught by high school instructors that are similarly qualified to college adjunct faculty, using the college's state approved syllabus. High School seniors are earning as many as 14 to 16 hours of college credit before graduation tuition-free. The college does not collect tuition and does not pay for instruction since the teachers are under contract to the high schools. State apportionment and equalization are collected from the state. | ||
