| Sitting Bull College, a tribally controlled community college, has joined other Indian reservations to become an extension of the National Native American Scenic Byway, which will ultimately encircle the high plains and create a comprehensive tourism experience that will highlight the culture of all the Plains Indians. This is a bold and exciting concept with multiple benefits. The overall objective of the concept is positive economic development for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, to be achieved by the utilization of cultural tourism assets that are known to exist on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation. The historic, cultural, natural, recreational and scenic qualities which exist on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation are significant and substantial. The major emphasis of the Standing Rock Historical Scenic Byway is to enhance the experience of the byway visitor on those qualities which are intrinsic to the Lakota/Dakota culture. | ||
