Conference Agenda

Tupelo, Mississippi . . . The Story of Change

You have an opportunity to explore the process that changed a community into a dynamic, thriving region. Come and join your colleagues on Wed., Oct. 9, when we travel to Tupelo and participate in an intensive 24-hour exploration of community change. Dr. Vaughn Grisham, author of "Tupelo: The Evolution of a Community" and associate professor of sociology at The University of Mississippi, will lead you through the community and introduce you to the partners that made the community's revolution a reality. The experience will enable you to:

Learn from Tupelo's successful public-private partnerships that have achieved major improvements in employment, education and income levels over the long-term.

Explore processes and the institutions that have fostered community investment and reinvestment in Tupelo.

Stimulate discussion and the development of strategies for generating community and civic investment in your own communities.

The $200 fee for this post-conference tour will include costs of transportation, hotel and meals. Tupelo is located about 90 miles southeast of Memphis on U.S. 78.
