The Plan of Work sets out exciting, specific objectives for each of our priority goal areas, with research questions to be addressed around each focal area:

  • Best Practices and Resources: developing an online set of resources for Southern Region states to guide their efforts in effectively engaging the Latino community and offering quality educational programs in all Extension areas for Latino youth, adults, families, and communities.
  • Staff Development: developing the cultural competence and other professional skills within Extension to develop and deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate programs for Latino audiences.
  • Best Practices and Resources: developing an online set of resources for Southern Region states to guide their efforts in effectively engaging the Latino community and offering quality educational programs in all Extension areas for Latino youth, adults, families, and communities.

In June 2016 the SERA-37 Latinos in the New South Leadership distributed a letter to Southern Region Extension Directors, Extension Administrators, Research Station Directors, and Associates to recruit Extension and Research personnel interested in engaging and better understanding the Latino Community to join SERA-37 and designated faculty or staff to become trained in intercultural development certifications.
