Module 6: Promoting Your Website

You would never think to develop a product and then just let it sit on a shelf, hoping that people will wander by, make a judgment that they really need it, and then buy it. The same holds true for a website. You can't just post it and hope that the search engines will lead everyone to your site. Once you have developed your business's website, you must

market it just as you would any of your products for sale. Promoting your website is extremely important, especially if the purpose of having the website is to generate sales of your product or service. Proper website promotion is probably more important than the actual website development process. If people can not find your website quickly and easily, they may give up the search or turn to a competitor's website that they were able to find. This module includes a number of methods that you can use to let people know about your website. The promotional strategies range in complexity and cost from easy and low-cost to more difficult and expensive.
