The Delta Directions Consortium cordially invites you to attend the Annual Delta Regional Forum.

Hosted by the Delta Directions Consortium, the forum is intended to engage community and regional development practitioners and scholars working in and with partners in the multistate Delta Region to learn from each other in pursuit of population health and wellbeing, economic renewal, and community resilience.

The Delta Directions Consortium is an interdisciplinary network of individuals, academic institutions, non-profit organizations, and foundations that work together to create positive social change in the greater Mississippi Delta Region.

This forum will focus on areas for collaboration both for current Delta Directions partners and potential partners. The goals are to share and identify areas of common interest to build on existing collaborations and to create additional opportunities for synergy moving forward. The event will be held in a beautiful and historic space in downtown Clarksdale, Mississippi – the Coahoma County Higher Education Center.

Development practitioners, policy leaders, scholars, and students from diverse disciplines and fields are invited. These include community development, demography, sociology, anthropology, economics, epidemiology, public health, social work, law, education, and public policy, just to name a few. Previous conversations have covered topics ranging from research on rural health disparities to community health interventions and economic development to improve wellbeing.

For this year, a wide range of topics applicable to the health and economic renewal of the Mississippi Delta Region will be considered. Diverse areas for collaboration and engagement are encouraged.

Discussion Sessions: In lieu of abstracts, this year we are requesting potential collaborators to submit a brief write-ups (no more than 150 words) on their area(s) of interest. We are looking for potential partners who would be willing to share their work in discussion sessions. If you submit your details, we will match you with other participants having complementary interests for discussion sessions where you can share insights and look for ways to collaborate.

Lightning Presentations: If you have an existing project with collaborators or partners that you would like to present with in the form of a three-minute “lightning presentation” followed by discussion, please submit a brief write up (no more than 150 words) on that project, including the names of existing collaborators. Speakers will be matched with others to form thematic sessions.

Submissions will be accepted until June 2, 2023.

Please submit your participation information (general interests, discussion session descriptions, and/or lightning presentation descriptions) by June 2, 2023 using the following link.
