Meta Tags and Keywords

Meta tags are pieces of information that search engines use to catalog websites. Meta tags are contained in the header of your web pages and are visible only to the search engine. They are identified after you have created a website but before you register it with the search engines. When someone is actually viewing your website on their computer they will not see your Meta tags. For more in-depth information on Meta tags than what is provided in this discussion visit http://searchenginewatch.com/ webmasters/article.php/2167931.

There are several classes of Meta tags. Three that we will discuss are

  • title
  • description
  • keyword
