Multimedia and Design Aspects
The Interface of a Web site should communicate to the site visitor the experiential nature of the actual business’ offerings and/or reinforce these messages expressed through Information of the Web site. This strategy will help build a clearer impression of the business and help distinguish the business from competitors.
Multimedia and design aspects can be drawn directly from features of the physical business that add to the experiential nature of the firm’s offerings. The following are examples of directly drawn Interface elements:
- Virtual tours of Properties,
- Photographs of attractive Product Presentations (packaging),
- Logos or lettering found in Promotional Applications, and
- Audios of People such as singing wait staff.
Care must be taken when drawing images directly from features of the physical business. For instance, the following images could be refined to better capture the Esthetic Experience. The sprinkler in the garden and walkway that appears to end detracts from the exterior view. In the night image, the camera angle gives the feeling that guests must climb a bank to get to this B&B and cuts off the first floor, which takes away from the Esthetic Experience offered by the business.
