What a Search Engine Spider Sees

Tip: Depending on what browser you are using, this “view” will be located in different places, though it is generally titled “View Source”. You might try looking under Tools.

The code that you are seeing is “HTML” – hypertext markup language. The spider scrolls through all of this code (on every page) and determines what the site is about. It then reports back to Google, and when a certain term is searched for, your site is ranked along with the 200 million others. Only the first 10 show up on Page 1!

The trick for you will be to display content on your site that lets the spider know that this site is the authority when it comes to your community.
